Sérgio
and I planned this year
a longer journey with the
bicycle, we wanted to ride
to the sea. We had visited
Croatia on previous ocasions
and we knew that it was
really beautiful and towns
were not far apart, but
the landscape it´s
not the easiest for bike
touring. We looked for information
(concerning bike touring
in Croatia) in travel books
and in the Internet, but
we were not particularly
successful with the search.
Not at least as much as
expected.
A biketour
in Dalmatien is exciting,
but not suitable for everyone.
It is nearly everywhere
hilly, only the Magistrale
(the road at the coast)
is rather even, but unfortunately
very strongly used by cars
and trucks. The motorway
at the coast will change
completely the situation
soon, as all traffic will
be done on it. So we decided
to drive trhought the islands
- Pag, Hvar and also Rab,
where there are cycle tracks
(however most are more suitable
for mountain bike rather
than trekking bikes).
